nanoRISC - SOM
nanoRISC is a module concept to bring the latest low power RISC controllers and embedded interfaces onto a small form factor COM (Computer On Module). Ideally suited for embedded applications a variety of easy to use interfaces are available.
nanoRISC modules are plugged onto an application specific baseboard. The nanoRISC form factor has been created for applications requiring both small form factor and lowest power consumption using the latest RISC processor and I/O technology.
The design of the MSC nanoRISC S5PC100 module is based on SAMSUNG new Cortex A8 CPU technology offering high performance, lowest power consumption and a high degree of functional integration for entry level embedded applications.
The S5PC100 processor with its low power consumption of <1.5W@667MHz and <2W@833MHz is ideally suited for fanless and mobile designs. Combined with DDR2 SDRAM, SLC NandFlash, 10/100Mbit Ethernet LAN controller and a power management controller (PMIC), the module offers a powerful solution for many embedded applications.
The module is available in commercial and extended temperature range.
The nanoRISC performance from ARM9 / 400MHz level up to Cortex A8 and supporting ARM multi core solutions in the future. For evaluation and design-in of nanoRISC modules MSC provides a reference platform. This reference platform contains the interface infrastructure for the nanoRISC using standard connectors for external access
