International Keyboard Driver
Windows
CE is typically controlled using a touch panel without the use of a keyboard.
You can enter characters by either using handrecognition software or using
the virtual keyboard. For a lot of applications, especially in the field
of Thin Clients, it is desired to use a keyboard. Windows CE contains keyboard
drivers for standard keyboard plugs or USB. Unfortunately Windows CE offers
only US english, japanese or korean keyboard layouts. You have to decide
which language should be used when you build the Windows CE image. Dynamically
switching between different languages is not possible.
If you want to use a different local language, you have to modify one of the delivered keyboard drivers. This will take some time and it doesn't solve another problem: You can not switch back to english nor to any other language. Especially in Europe there are a lot of different countries with different languages living close together. Therefore most companies deliver their Windows CE devices without support for local keyboards.
With our international keyboard driver a Windows CE user has the possibility to dynamically select a local language in a Control Panel (menu "Settings").
